Our first walk through both storeys

12/09/09: Today we had our first walk through both storeys of the house. We could finally see everything, it was just as good if not better that we had both imagined. We spent about an hour just walking around upstairs, most of that was spent in our bedroom looking out at our view, neither of us wanted to leave. We can't wait until we can move in.

I have included two pics, the first one is the view from our bedroom, there are a few glimpses of water, not as much as we had hoped but better than nothing. The second one is the view from the front bedroom, the only problem with this view is it will be blocked by houses when they are built.

We have our front doors

10/09/09: Today started off as a bitter sweet day, our first payment came out for the slab increasing our mortgage, the thing that helped to sweeten it up was that we received our first home owner’s grant which was a great help.

Then this afternoon ended in a bitter sweet way too, sweet because we now have our two front doors which was a bit of a surprise and wasn't expected so soon. Though the bitter part out ways everything else that happened today, it doesn't have anything to do with Coral but everything to do with my parents.

As I work 5 1/2 days a week I am only able to get up to see my house on the weekend, through the week I only get to see the same pics that are uploaded to this blog. It's really hard, all I want to do is walk through my new house, but I know that by the time I get there it will be dark, so I only have the weekends. My fiancé who takes these photos is finding it really hard to hold back her urge to go inside for a walk around, as she respects that it's something that both of us should share together, as we both can't wait to see what the view from our bedroom will look like.

Today when my fiancé arrived to take the photos my parents turned up and they decided to walk around, as both of us have already walked around down stairs we don't mind if they walk around down there too. When my fiancé walked somewhere to take a photo, my mother who I told only a few days ago how we couldn't wait to be the first to see our view, had gone upstairs and continued to walk around yelling out how lovely the view was from up there. My fiancé just had to leave as it was hard enough to hold herself back from going up there and here is my mother just freely strolling around with no respect for our request to have this moment to share ourselves for the first time. Now this moment has been ruined, and we are both extremely upset by her lack of respect for our request.

I know this may seem like a trivial thing but this is our first house and it's such a special thing that both of us would like to share together for the first time and to have someone come in and experience this before us is a very upsetting feeling, it's just not going to be as special for us now this weekend, we are very disappointed.

Roof trusses done

09/09/09: Once again the guys were still on site when my fiancé showed up, they were still there working hard when she left at 5:15pm. While she was there she spoke to one of the tradies, he told her that build was going well and they didn't have any issues, which is good to hear.

While she was talking to him he asked her if we would be mounting any TVs on the walls? She told him we were considering it. So we're going to mark a copy of the plan where we would like to have the TV's mounted and how high they will be and they will brace the walls for them. How awesome is that? So it looks like I have some homework to do tonight.

Enjoy the pics.

Roof trusses started

08/09/09: Today they finished off the upstairs frame and have now started on the roof trusses. The garage has been completed and they have now moved onto roof trusses at the back of the house, the guys were still working on the trusses when my fiancé was there at around 4:00pm.

I can't wait to see what they have done tomorrow.

We have a second storey

07/09/09: We have a second storey, I can't believe how fast our house is coming together.

I spoke to our supervisor today regarding the changes that I mentioned in yesterday's post. He was more than happy to help, he just asked me to fax him a copy of the plan with the change marked on it and he would fax it through to the plumber, it was way too easy. I just love how Coral are so open, our site supervisor is fantastic and so willing to help and discuss anything with us.

Anyway here are the pics of todays work.

The first walk through our house

05/09/09: Today my fiancé and I went for our first walk through our new house. The first thing we noticed when we arrived was that there had been some work done this morning, they had been and put the floor on upstairs ready for the frame work next week. It was great to see that work has been done on a Saturday, so far we are very impressed with Coral. The site supervisor had been very easy to contact and work is progressing very quickly.

My fiancé and I both walked up to the front door and walked into our house for the very first time. This was the first time we could see what the Montego looked like on the inside as we bought it off the plan as Coral don't have any two storey display homes other than in Sydney, yet neither of the two are the Montego. We were very happy with what we saw, it was such a wonderful moment for both of us to share, my fiancé was so overwhelmed that she even had a tear in her eye, it was such a magic moment for both of us.

Everything was as we expected if not better, most of our worries that we thought might arise looking on the plan didn't seem to be an issue, there are only two very small things that I would like to change that I don't think they will be difficult. One being the placement of an aerial point, this should be very easy to get moved, the other one being the placement of the hosecock, we would like a very small movement from the back right hand side to the right hand side at the back, I hope these can be done just by talking to the plumber and the electrician. Fingers crossed, I'll let you all know how I go.

Getting ready for the second storey

04/09/09: Compared to yesterday only a little work appears to have been done today. The beams were put in place for the second storey, the wood has been moved up there too, ready to be put together next week. The first floor has had a few boards put up around the internal & external walls.

I can't wait to get up to the block on the weekend and have a look around, it's going to be so exciting to finally walk around in our new house.

OMG we have a bottom storey frame

03/09/09: It must have been a very busy day on site today, My fiancé called me up at 4:45pm to tell me that the bottom frame was almost complete, all I wanted to do was leave work & drive up there to see it, but I knew that by the time I got there it would be dark, so I didn't.

I can't wait to get up to the block on the weekend & have a walk around, its hard to believe that there wasn't even a slab there last weekend now we have a bottom storey frame. The guys were still on site at 5:00pm so they could finish the bottom storey today, they said they were going to start on the second storey tomorrow. This is all happeneing so fast, I can't believe it.

I would like to say a big thank you to my parents who went up to the block today to take photos of the start of the frame this morning, I had no idea that they were going to do that so it was a great surprise, thank you.
