Catching up on what has happened this week, along with a surprise at the end

15/12/09: The site supervisor came down to the house and started placing blue dots all over the place to mark the spots where little touch ups need to be done. The wardrobe doors were all taken upstairs and the front fence came down.

16/12/09: A lot of holes were patched up today. All the mirrors were installed along with the wardrobe doors and the ensuite shower screen, we also got a tap installed on the spa. The site was cleaned and scraped out the front.

17/12/09: This morning we met up with the site supervisor, we ran through all the marks we found around the house that needed to be touched up. He told us that the other two shower screens were getting installed today and that the tiler was getting the new splashback tiles from Brisbane this morning and would be installing them this afternoon. The windows in the meals room were getting changed around while we were onsite this morning, when we were half way through the inspection the painter showed up to start doing the touch ups.

After the inspection we drove down to the bank to see if we could get the check to make the final payment today. When we got to the bank and spoke to the home loan manager she couldn't see any problem with issuing the check today as long as we singed a letter stating that we were happy with the final product, which we did. The bank will now organise the bank inspection with us hopefully before the New Year.

After receiving the check we drove back to the house to give it to the site supervisor, which in return he gave us the keys to our new house. Yes you read that right we now have the keys to our new house. We were also given the garage door controllers, along with the TV booster. After we ran through all this he gave us a gift from Coral Homes, which was a BBQ set.

After the site inspection we both had to return to work. I received a missed call from the site supervisor late this afternoon, since I was at work I couldn't answer it. When I got a chance to check the message it was the site supervisor, he said "I've got a bit of bad news" about a million thoughts went through my head at this point. What he had to tell me was that the tiler had some how managed to smash the glass door on our oven and that we was trying to get a replacement door for us, he couldn't tell us if it would be before Christmas. He told us that he should know by tomorrow.

We both can't believe that we have reached this point, I don't think that it has sunk in for either of us yet. We still have so much more left to do, I've organised the insurance today, I still need to arrange the electricity, gas, telephone, Internet. I ordered our fridge, washer and dryer yesterday. We still need to arrange our driveway, blinds, tables, chairs, letterbox, and about a million other things that we don't have yet.

  1. Mate what is the ball park construction cost up until the handover stage? The finished product looks amazing.
